Obituary

The Frankum family were traveling on the Lusitania as 3rd class passengers. They were having tea and preparing their luggage when the torpedo struck. Joseph Frankum managed to put his wife, his two sons and baby Winifred in a lifeboat. But the family got off the lifeboat and stood on deck to prepare what was happening. The Ship tilted and the stern rose, and Joseph and his family were washed in the ocean and separated. Joseph survived in a collapsible lifeboat. His oldest son Francis survived. His wife Annie, and his son 4 year old Frederick and baby Winifred were lost. Winifred was 10 months old when she died in the Lusitania sinking. Her body was never recovered.
