Ellen Thompson Donnelly Harris - African Canadian
Ellen Thompson, b. 1852, in Ohio, daughter of Alfred V. Thompson (b. free Tennessee) and Susan Cannon Thompson (b. free South Carolina) , with her second husband, Robert Alexander Harris. Thompsons were African/European/Native American ancestry, and emigrated to Ontario in the 1860s. Her first husband was Edward Donnelly, and they had a daughter, Louisa Donnelly, b. 1869, in Kent County, Ontario, Canada. Louisa married Alfred Highgate, and is pictured with her daughters on this site under the Highgate surname. Highgates also emigrated to Ontario, from Allegheney County, PA, in the 1850s.
