I tend to think that this was John I. Tyree as he was running for sheriff or when he was elected sheriff of Lawrence County, Indiana. See elsewhere also the picture of the sheriff's residence in Bedford.

John was the eldest child in his birth family. His siblings were: Edith C. Tyree, who married Edgar Bareford; Nancy J. "Nannie" Tyree, who married 1) Charley Jackson and 2) Thomas J.
