Nathan Billings Palmer woodcut
Nathan Billings Palmer, 1790 (Stonington, CT)-1875 (Indianapolis, IN), married to Chloe Sackett, 1784 (Lebanon, NY)-1871 (Indianapolis, IN). They were married on 29 Sep 1811 in Madison County, NY by Rev Simeon Gillette. They had 14 children, including Jane Maria, who has a diary of her return trip from California via Panama published in "Ho for California! : Women's overland diaries from the Huntington Library", and who was the wife of John McDougal, the second Governor of California. Nathan served in local and State offices in Indiana, such as State Treasurer, and was the president of the Madison & Indianapolis RR. Chloe hand colored the first map of Potter County, PA, made by surveyor Daniel Clark of Windham, CT, about 1816.
