Ulfert Gerd Kleen

Ulfert G. Kleen and his wife Altge U. Fruhling Kleen immigrated to the USA in 1876 when my grandfather Mimke Ulfert Kleen was one year old. They came from Aurich, Niedersaschen, Germany. They first settled in Sterling, Johnson, Nebraska where they bought a farm. They stayed here for ten years and then bough homesteaded land in Macon, Franklin, Nebraska. The family consisted of farmers and blacksmiths. My father, Earl M. Kleen was first a blacksmith and later a plumber and electrician when the need for the profession became necessary during the Rural Electrification years in Nebraska. His profession as an electrician became the profession of his three sons as well.
