My maternal grandfather Walter Ryan(on the left)speaking with a co-worker. Walter was the sports editor at The Haverhill Gazette for over twenty years. He wrote a daily column about life when he was a kid. My grandfather knew several famous and local athletes in his day. He wrote his last column on April 29,1966. Later that day he went home for lunch and passed away of a massive coronary in his sleep at the age of 52.
