Marianne Vallone It seems that when James Brisbin wrote his book about cattle ranching in the West, many of my ancestors on all sides took notice and moved to the Mesa area of Colorado right around the same time and it seems that all of them moved from PA. They all settled around the Plateau City, Collbrun area. This included the Brisbin's, Wimer's, Thompson's, Tompkins, and others. The married-into names included Blair, Winters, Palmer and Wonch. Most were cattle ranchers and were successful. My maternal Grandfather Ray Brisbin broke away from the ranching business and traveled the rails, ending up married to my grandmother Edna Hazel Wimer, settled for a time in Colorado and they eventually moved their little family to California. Some of the others followed and ended up in Humboldt and Sonoma Counties.
