Ingeborg Kalnoky was born Baroness, nee Breitenbuch, of Prussian Castle Ranisburg, now Central Germany, 1909. She received the premium education of a noblewoman, including studying art and violin in Berlin. She married my Father, AustroHungarian Count Hugo Kalnoky, 1930's. Am third of her 4 children. We survived WW II in Budapest Hungary, place of my 1941 birth, then Nazi occupied, and Vienna Austria, surviving Allied military Bombing Raids. Count Hugo Kalnoky was foreign affairs editor of then largest Hungarian newspaper: the Budapesti Pesterlloydi. He bravelly wrote his last Editorial, 'praising Winston Churchill' probably 1944, after D-Day; Count Kalnoky's last editorial was broadcast worldwide by the BBC. Count Kalnoky survived Gestapo searches in small Czech towns. We hid from Soviet Army advances in Gyor Hungary, at our Bishop Vilmos Apor's Baronical Palace in Gyor Hungary April 1945. 3 drunk Soviet soldiers came seeking '50 washer-women (which would have included my 10 year old sister and beautiful mom, Ingeborg. Noble friend Bishop Apor tried to talk to the 3 Soviet soldiers, but was shot 3 times by them. My father and 3 men carried the mortally-wounded Bishop Apor to medical, where he was witnessed dying on Good Friday 1945, tears in his eyes he could also die Good Friday. Bishop Apor, who baptized me: (Count) Antal Sandor Hugo Maria Eleazar Kalnoky in April 1941 in Budapest. All our family homes and Castles were behind the 'Iron Curtain' in 1945; Ingeborg Kalnoky Refused to return to our homes: "over my dead body" she told allied authorities, who had inswisted under the Yalta Accords. Our immediate family immigrated in Oct 1949 under the U.S. 'Displaced Persons' Refugee Act of 1949, sailing from Bremerhaven to Boston aboard the Liberty Ship "General Ballou" landing about Nov 5 1949, with Boston Herald pic and copy of Noble Refugee Family. It was Ingeborg Kalnoky's idea to flee to the USA. My 3 siblings and I each received premium Catholic Education, befitting children of Nobility. I received full Jesuit College education, continuing unbroken Jesuit Education of all Count Kalnoky's 'since Jesuits first came to Austria'. 2 of Ingeborg's adult children returned to Europe (France) in the 1960's; 2 of us stayed in the USA. Ingeborg, who had never worked in her life, except painting and writing articles, had to start working in Offices for 35 years. She struggled earnestly to raise us 2 youngest chirdren. She wrote "The Guest Book" about her work keeping the Tried at the Nurnberg War Crimes Trials. She passed in Retirement in Medina Ohio, close to her Daughter in 1997.
