Korac Country of Origin, Nationality, & Ethnicity

[external link] There is some debate as the ethnic origins of the Korac last name. It appears that Korac is a ethnically Serbian surname but due to the Diaspora, the Korac name has been spread through out Balkans. The Diaspora  has led to Croation, Bosnian, and Montenegrin claims to the name. There is evidence that the surname has origins within Montenegro but that does change that it is ethnically Serbian.

Korac Meaning & Etymology

Korać appears to be derived from kovać the Serbian word for "horse shoe hammer" or farrier. A farrier is a specialist in equine hoof care, including the trimming and balancing of horses' hooves and the placing of shoes on their hooves, if necessary. A farrier combines some blacksmith's skills (fabricating, adapting, and adjusting metal shoes) with some veterinarian's skills (knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the lower limb) to care for horses' feet. [Wikipedia Link] Korać also means the Door Arch Korać also means the big hammer Korach is Hebrew name, also Korah קֹרַח
