Bill was born on July 17, 1931, in Germany to Johann & Adele (Balsereit) Jungblut. In 1951, he immigrated to the United States. On July 25, 1953, Bill married the love of his life, Meta Schroeder, in Chicago Illinois. After many years of living in a big city, Bill and his family moved to Michigan in 1975. He was a proud Teamster Truck Driver for 35 years, working for companies such as Indian Head, Central Transport and, at one point, owning his own trucking business. Growing up in the era of Big Band music, Bill had a love for the saxophone and clarinet. In his younger years he enjoyed playing these instruments in a band, and as he grew older, he played in the company of friends and family. A favorite event of his was family reunions. He loved getting together, playing games and reconnecting with his family. Bill was a great man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Bill is survived by his loving wife of almost 68 years, Meta; children, Astrid (David) Meier, Edith (Harold) Herbstreit, and Helmut (Monica) Jungblut; grandchildren, Jonathan (Britney) Meier, Kristina (Richard) Reid, Heidi (John) Brown, Deanna (Nathan) Main, Benjamin (Evelin) Herbstreit, James (fiancé, Sarah Trager) Jungblut and Jacob Jungblut; great-grandchildren, Karis, Simeon, Asher, Ethan, Eli, Hudson, Logan, Bennet, Adeelia, and soon to be arriving, Mia; sisters, Gertrude (Otto) Pieler and Brigitte (Gustav) Skowron; and brother-in-law, Otto Schroeder. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johann & Adele; and sister, Erika Cospar. They fled to Germany in 1945 with Pauline Balceraitis and Wilhelm Balceraitis ( parents of Eduard Balsereit and the so-called Gewschwister ) after an attack by the Red Army over Lithuania. In one night, more than 300,000 people fled to Germany. Within a year, more than 1. 2 million people from Lithuania have fled to Germany. My parents were taken in as refugees in Germany and were given a German name and accommodation in Soldaten Kasernen. You lived there until 1959. Then I left. I knew I would never see these strangers again. I wasn't sorry anymore. It took me 14 days for my stomach to feel normal again. But these visits have also helped me to understand that an end is also an end.
