  • Introduction

I remember Daddy. He was born in Stateline, Mississippi. I am his oldest daughter from his third marriage. He remembered his chikldren and other families with fondness and told me how incredible my older brothers and sisters were in their accomlaishments. He told me to work to brcome great myself. He want to third grade. He served in the Army in Word War 2 and was deployed in the European theater. He started as a cook and moved up. Daddy worked in construciton and had his own business. He shared with me about contracting among other things. I remever watching the 1088 Olypics on TV with him. Th TV was blastinhg because he had begun going deaf. My favorite outing with him was going ot he grocery store. He drove this truck and at one poine he hit a guy's car in the parking lot. The guy was highly upset. He yelled at my Daddy, "Hey man, you knocked my lights out! ' Dad, looked at him puzzled and said, "Lights out? Looka here, my lights not out, I done paid my bill!!" Stunned by the reply, the man just alked away. Now seeing he was hard of hearing, this whole exchange was truly something to behold. Over 30 years later and remember him.
