  • Introduction

This is an excerpt from "OUR DAY", the diary of the 102nd Infantry Division, 405th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Battalion, HQ Company: "Oct. 5, Thur. Pfc. Wesley Snyder was assigned to our company from Co. C. He will join our kitchen force which has been short handed since T/4 Vescoves death at Fort Dix. Our C. P. moved from the tents it had occupied to a little French house that is vacant close to our company. The General was around today and was displeased with the present set up. The house seems like a good deal. The wire section cleaned out the garage and has set up the switchboard in it." T/4 Vescove never made it to Europe. The company that he served with went all the way to the Elbe River and met with the Russian troops. You can learn more of T/4 Vescove's fellow soldiers with a Google search "102nd 405th facebook"
