    Joseph Francis Totterer was born on April 21, 1921 in Bloomington, McLean, Illinois, USA to parents Anton Frank Totterer (1881-1953) and Rosa S Sabo (1881-1971). He had siblings Frank A Totterer (1903-1991), Mary Totterer (1907-1980), Anthony Joseph Totterer (1910-1998), Charles John Totterer (1912-2006), Rose Cathrine Totterer (1914-2005), Eva Marie Totterer (1917-2006), and Anna G. Totterer (1919-2006). At the age of 20, Joseph registered for the draft on February 16, 1942. At the time of registration, he was employed by Alton Railroad and resided in Bloomington, McLean, Illinois, USA. Later that year, on October 1, 1942, Joseph enlisted in the U.S. Army in Peoria, Illinois. He was assigned to the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA, and began his military service as a Private. He was discharged on January 17, 1946 after 4 years of service. After his time in the Army, in February of 1948, Joseph married Rosemary Agnes Gleason (1922–2009). see Miss Gleason, Mr. Totterer Exchange Vows. The couple had two children together. Joseph was employed by Pepsi-Cola for 38 years.

    Joseph Totterer was survived his wife, Rosemary A. Gleason Totterer; children, Susan Lombardo and Joseph (Laura) Totterer, two grandchildren, his brothers, Charles Totterer, Frank Totterer and Tony Totterer, his sisters, Rose Whelan, Ann Merrick and Eva Rediger, a brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. Mr. Totterer was a longtime member of St. Michael's Church in Shrewsbury, Missouri. He was a retired teamster and was employed by Pepsi-Cola for 38 years. Joseph was also a member of VFW Post 111. He was a 1941 graduate of the Trinity High School (now Central Catholic High School) in Bloomington, Illinois. His sister, Mary Burden, preceded him in death. Miss Gleason, Mr. Totterer Exchange Vows
A number of Bloomington residents were in St. Louis Saturday to attend the wedding of Miss Rosemary Gleason and Joseph F.
Totterer, both of St. Louis. The bride is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul R. Gleason of Bloomington and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Totterer of 1311 Western avenue.

The wedding was held in the Church of St. Plus V. The bride, given in marriage by her oldest brother, Tom Gleason of Oak Park, Til, wore a traditional gown of white satin styled entrain. Her veil was fingertip length and she carried white orchids on a white prayer book. Miss Joan Whalen. St. Louis, served as maid of honor. She wore a colonial styled gown of deep rose taffeta with a matching headpiece, and carried white roses. James E. Hayes of South Bend, Ind., was best man, and ushers were Bernard F. Murray of Bloomington and Joseph Becker of St. Louis.

A wedding breakfast was served after the ceremony for the wedding party at the Melbourne hotel in St. Louis, and a reception was held for all wedding guests at 8 p. m. After a wedding trip they will live in St. Louis where both are employed.

Both principals are graduates of Trinity High school in Bloomington.
