Solomon Appelman's History: 1918 - 1968

Uncover new discoveries and connections today by sharing about people & moments from yesterday.
  • Introduction

Solomon was a no nonsense and to-the-point individual. He was a devoted Husband and Father, kind and generous to everyone he met, and valued family over possessions. He had a bit of short fuse, but I suppose being blown up in his half track in the African Theater during World War II and lying upside down with 4 of your mates dead around you for 3 days until the British forces found him had a little to do with that. He was honest, proud to be an American, and was an inspiration to both his son and daughter. His son Steven went on to become an electronics engineer, working in the military field for nearly 40 years, and running his own company, Macro Electronics Corp. His daughter Hariann and her husband Joel Zara were entrepreneurs as well, and lived on both coasts of the US.

The world needs to remember his lesson of education. He was not well formally educated, which was a shame; he was a brilliant man, and if he had been given the gift of a formal education, it is hard to imagine what could have come from his mind.
