William Rowbottom was born on January 14, 1877, in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. His parents were Charles Rowbottom (1851-1926) and Sarah Sherriff (1854-1899) and William was one of many children with siblings Thomas Henry, Charles, Alice Caroline, George, Albert, Ada Mabel, Clarence John, Alfred Leslie, and Alma Caroline Rowbottom. William went on to marry twice in his lifetime, first to May Fraser (1871-1944) on Mar 15, 1889 in Fingal, Tasmania, Australia. The couple had 4 children together, Iona, Percy, Lionel, and Doris May Rowbottom. He later married again to Ada May Barrett (born 1876) in 1904 in his hometown of Launceston. William Rowbottom passed away on March 2, 1939, at the age of 62.
