    Maurica Jeanette Hiers, "MJ", 17, of Cottageville, SC died Thursday January 1, 2004 in Sumter County, SC. Funeral services will be held at Parks Funeral Chapel, this Tuesday morning, January 6, 2004, at eleven o'clock. Entombment will be in Summerville Cemetery Mausoleum. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements by Parks Funeral Home, INC., Summerville, SC.

MJ was my best friend. When were little life happened and we got taken away from each other. About 7 years later we were reunited at The Lancaster Children's Home in Lancaster, South Carolina. She was a good student at Lancaster High School. I helped her leave from the Children's home and she was on her way back to get me when she passed away. I did not find out about it till that following January. The family she was placed with before coming to the Children's home came once to collect all of her belongings but I only gave them what I wanted them to have. They did Not deserve to have anything more. Not once did they come see her the whole year i was there before the accident. Well I have one picture of her. M.J how I miss you so much. My sister, my best friend, my whole heart. I miss and love you so much. Life has never been the same. M.J was a special person, a lil wild and crazy at times, but we all needed it. She loved hard, and her love meant something. I carry you everyday and will carry you till my last breathe. I named my youngest after you, and JC named his baby girl after you. I speak with him as much as I can. I promised you I always be with him and I meant that. You took me with you when you left sissy, and I fight everyday to make sure everyone still knows who you are.

Tomorrow is my "sisters" 32nd birthday God only know's the daily pain this still causes but I've never let her spend it alone. IF THERE IS ANYONE WISHING TO MAKE DONATIONS PLEASE CALL THE FUNERAL HOME her stone can not be engraved until the funeral is paid off and unfortunately reese (her mother) hasn't paid a penny towards it please help me let people be aware that empty spot on the wall IS NOT EMPTY my heart is in there and no one knows because they will not allow me to pay toward the $1500 engraving until the funeral cost of almost $10,000 is finished being paid off.. They agreed to accept payments and donations towards the balance so please help me help her get a respective stone she truly deserves one.
