I knew someone by the name of "B" Hilliard in the early 60s. He had an aunt, Hettie Cannon (married name) that lived in a little house on Main Street in Bushnell. He stayed with her sometimes. In checking, I believe his name was Douglas Bishop Hilliard (1920-1997). His last wife's name was Velma Williams. Velma is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Checking the tombstone picture, B Hilliard's birth and death dates are exactly the same as Dudlas B Hilliard. Looking at the FindAGrave reference, memorial # 84125355, he was a Private in the Army during WWII. The name on the tombstone is DUDLAS BISHOP HILLIARD. Burial is in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Rhine, Dodge County, GA (his birthplace). He died in Lake County, FL, about 20 miles from Bushnell. In a SS application, name notes: "Apr 1944: Name listed as DOUGLAS BISHOP HILLIARD; Nov 1961: Name listed as DUDLAS BISHOP HILLIARD; 06 Nov 1997: Name listed as DUDLAS B HILLIARD." It lists his father as JOHN HILLIARD and his mother as JENNIE CANUM (possibly CANNON). Referencing three family trees in Ancestry, I confirmed Jennie Canum to be Jennette CANNON. Jennie's father was Wiley Lester CANNON of Wilkinson County, GA. I haven't been able to find any information on Wiley Lester Cannon yet but he is from the same county in GA that my grandfather (Ralph Furman COLLINS) was from. Hettie V COLLINS was the daughter of John COLLINS, my grandfather's brother. Hettie married Lott CANNON in Dodge, GA in 1909. This forms the relationship of "B" HILLIARD being the nephew of Hettie CANNON (my cousin). Being able to deduce this relationship of which I had some first hand knowledge, and finding the name discrepancies on the SS record, I believe that DUDLAS B HILLIARD is the same as DOUGLAS BISHOP HILLIARD.
