Mr. Lampl was born of German parents in Augendorf, Hungary and came to the United States in 1909.
Early Life & Education

Master's Degree from Capital University in Ohio.
Religious Beliefs

Mr. Lampl was very active in the Zion Lutheran Church, Gibsonburg, Ohio. He sat as chairman of the committee that built the Zion Lutheran Church in Gibsonburg, Ohio. He ran a fund-raising campaign to get the church built at 500 Brentwood Drive, Gibsonburg, Ohio. The dedication ceremony was held in 1959. He was opposed by many town's people and thought to be "stepping way out on a tree branch" taking on the task of building a new church. The church cost about $150,000 to build, while the budget of the church was about $3,300 at the time. But Gottlieb held the congregation together and proved the building could get funded and the church built.
Professional Career

Mr. Lampl was a past principal of Gibsonburg High School System in Ohio and superintendent of the Gibsonburg school district. He taught a variety of subjects at Gibsonburg High School, including English and Latin.
Personal Life & Family

Gottlieb J. Lampl was married over 61 years to Selma and had one son. His hobbies included crossword puzzles, and other puzzles such as Rubik's cube and the Pyramid.

Gottlieb J. Lampl at age 90.

Photo appeared in the Fremont News Messenger in 1989 in the Our Neighbor section. An associated article was included as an interview by Joyce Huntley, staff writer. Gottlieb was 90 years old at the time the article was published. He went on to live 3 more years.

Mr. Lampl was a character! He was one of my high school teachers who was as tough as they come, had a quick, dry sense of humor, and cared about all his students. He demanded more than I was willing to give back in those days, but now I realize he was probably one of the best inspirations and teachers I had. I begrudgingly learned in his class...not realizing until my later days in life what he had instilled in me. The fact I remember him over many others is a tribute to his ability to inspire and teach. My mother had him as a student and later taught in the same school system as Mr. Lampl. Thank you for being a part of who I am today!
