Sgt Albert C Ruskus Sr
My father served in the 1st Marine Div. As wireman on the beaches of Guadalcanal during WW II. He took in a wound from a metal bomb which was from his right middle wrist up to his elbow on the beach head. Dad's nick name was "Whitey". After his wound was sewn up, he got to go to Melbourne Australia for an R & R. The war was one of the reasons he became an alcoholic and was known for frequenting the loal Dinky Du Bar. Dad was a big fan of V.O. Whiskey and would finish off several quart bottles of the whiskey as well as beer and wine. "Big AL" loved fighting and drinking.
