Alexina (Rolland) Mercier was born in 1875 in Canada to Jean-Damien Rolland and Albina Rolland (Née Parent), and had siblings Ludivine Letondal (Née Rolland), Blanche Desrochers (Née Rolland), Léon Raymond Rolland, Émile Octavien Rolland, and Jean-Pierre Rolland. She married Oscar-Félix Mercier, and had children Oscar Joseph-Damien Mercier, Raymonde Bienvenu (Née Mercier), and Madeleine Patenaude (Née Mercier). Alexina Mercier died at age 57 years old on March 21, 1933 in Montreal, Montreal County, QC.

In central Texas, a German-American mob broke into a jail with a battering ram and lynched two suspected cattle rustlers. Thus began a year of vigilante "justice."
