    Angelo Joseph Abruscato is the son of Thomas Abruscato and Maria Barragato. He was born in New York City. He had five sisters; Lucy, Millie, Rose, Mary, and Angie Abruscato. His journey in service to his country began with his draft registration on March 20, 1944. At the age of 18, he registered in New York City, New York, with the Gramercy Boys Club listed as his employer. Shortly after his draft registration, Angelo decided to actively enlist in the military. On June 6, 1944, he joined the ranks of the US Army at Camp Upton in Yaphank, New York. Enlisting as a Private in the Selectees (enlisted men) category, Angelo demonstrated his determination to contribute to the war effort. Angelo Abruscato proudly served as a US Army veteran during World War II and was discharged on October 25, 1945. He married Doris Marie Abruscato (1929-1996) and together they had a son Gary Thomas Abruscato (1951-1987) and a daughter Kathleen Abruscato Yuppa. He was the executive director of the Boys Club of Clifton for thirty years before his retirement in 1988.
