    Meyersdale Republican: April 15, 1954 - p. 14 MRS. ANNA A. D'AMICO Mrs. Anna A. D'Amico, 74, died April 8 at her home on Broadway, Meyersdale. She was born February 6, 1880 in Termini, Italy, the daughter of Joseph and Johanna (Lamana) Arena. She was an infant when her parents came to the United States. Her husband, Charles F. D'Amico, a well known business man of Meyerdale, died in 1927. She is survived by the following children: Philip, of Mt. Savage, Md.; Miss Frances and Fred, at home; Mrs. Joseph Keating (Joanne), Frostburg; Mrs. Charles Foy (Jeroma) and Anthony, Meyersdale; Mrs. Lewis Weber (Rose), Pottstown; Mrs. Michael Serluco (Anna Mary) Somerset; Mrs. John J. Huth (Rita) in Germany; and Mrs. Bernard Mahone (Cecilia), Richmond, Va. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Josephine Culotta of Baltimore. Mrs. D'Amico had been in ill health for several years. She was a member of SS. Philip and James Catholic Church, where services were held by the Rev. Raymond Cupples at 9 a.m. Monday. Interment in the church cemetery under the direction of Price Funeral Home.

Charles D'amico, born Diego Francesco D'Amico in 1873 Sicily, emigrated to the US as a child in 1884 . He became a naturalized citizen, married, a real estate investor, and had 10 (!) children.

With a fierce loyalty to his local community of Meyersdale Pennsylvania, this former immigrant and fruit seller, like many others, became a pillar of his community and achieved the American dream.
