    Anthony Stefanski Obituary ANTHONY B. STEFANSKI 1931 - 2017 PRESTON – Anthony B. Stefanski, 86, a longtime Preston resident, died peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017 at his home. Born in New London on June 7, 1931 he was the son of the late Anthony and Bronislawa (Konopka) Stefanski. Anthony grew up in New London and was a graduate of Chapman Tech class of 1950. He received his bachelor's degree from New Haven State Teacher's College (Southern CT College) and went on to earn his masters and sixth-year degree from Sacred Heart University. In 1958 he began his teaching career as one of the first special education teachers in the Groton school system. He retired after 40 years having last worked at the Claude Chester school. He was an army veteran having honorably served with the United States Army during the Korean War. Being an avid sportsman, he participated in the New London Men's Bowling League over 30 years and served as president for one year. He loved golf and achieved a "hole in one" on Oct. 28, 1983 at Elm Ridge Country Club. He was the loving husband of Ann (Ramatowski) Stefanski. They were married on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, 1958 at St. Joseph Church in Norwich and celebrated their 58th anniversary last November. The family would like to extend a special thanks to those who helped with Anthony's final journey, Cindy Philips, Sandy Ross, Michele Spicer and Fr. Steve Gulino. Your compassion and kindness will never be forgotten. He is survived by his loving wife Ann; loving daughter Karen Weimar; brother Kazmer Stefanski and wife Katie; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Edward and Donald Stefanski. A calling hour will be held on Mon., Nov. 13, from 9:00 am to 10:15 am at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Ave, Norwich, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena in Preston. Burial will be at Poquetanuck Cemetery, a celebration of life reception will follow at the Preston V.F.W., 28 Spicer Rd, Preston. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Catherine of Siena, 243 Route164, Preston, CT 06365 or the Poquetanuck Volunteer Fire Co., 87 Route 2A, Preston, CT 06365. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store. Published by Norwich Bulletin from Nov. 7 to Nov. 12, 2017.
