He had siblings Arthur James Alderette, Brian Alderette, and Beverly Louise (Alderette) Poindexter. He married Patricia Louise (Ivancik) Alderette on July 8, 1961, and they were married until Barry's death on May 17, 1996. Barry Alderette had a child Chaundra Louise Alderette.
