Benjamin was a direct descendant of the Rabbi Moses Uri Ha-Levi, a printer of Torah's. In fact, the name Madfis means printer, which most likely comes from the many printers in the lineage. The family didn't actually originate from Russia, but it actually originated from Spain during the late 1300's.
