Brian was married to Janice Lorraine (Rhodes) Alderette on July 11 1953 in Winchester VA and they had a son (James Arthur) and a daughter (Terry Jean, Feb 16 1954-Feb 17 1954), In the 1930 Federal census, Brian, age 1, was living with his parents James and Betty and brother James, age 3, in Beaver Falls PA. In the 1940 Federal census, Brian, age 11, was living with his family - Dad, E James, Mom, Bessie, and siblings L. Beverly, age 9, and L Berry (sic), 8 months, in Beaver Falls PA. Also in the household was W. Harry Klier, age 28. Brian was in 4th grade. On his World War 2 draft card for young men, Brian said that he was the head of household, 5 ft 11 in tall, 168 lbs, had a ruddy complexion, and brown hair and eyes. Brother Barry was a Democratic member of the PA House of Representatives for 1 year.

In 1928, in the year that Brian Alderette was born, aviatrix Amelia Earhart, age 31, became the first woman to fly solo across North America and back in August. In June, she had been part of a 3 man crew that flew the Atlantic Ocean but since she had no instrument training, she couldn't fly the plane - she kept the flight log. The North American flight became one of her many "firsts" as a female pilot.
