Dennis Lee Barnes U.S. Navy (retired), was born June 3, 1963 in Kansas City, KS. and went to be with the Lord on July 8, 2013, in El Cajon, CA. Dennis was a graduate from Turner High School and proudly served his country for 20 years before his honorable retirement. Among his foreign services were Africa, Japan, and 3 tours of Afghanistan. After his Navy retirement, he was employed as an instructor of airplane design for Northrup Grumman, in San Diego, CA. for several years. In 1985, Dennis married Kelli Cartwright and to this union two sons were born. He is survived by his present wife, Emmalee Barnes of the home, his two sons - Kevin Barnes of Koskonong, MO. and Steven Barnes (Desiree) of Minot, ND. Five grandchildren - Tristen, Hanna, Kayla, Elizabeth and Andy all of Minot, ND. His mother, Frances Barnes of Camdenton, MO.; his father and step mother James and Minnie Barnes of Warsaw, MO.; brothers - Randy Barnes (Rhonda) of Olathe, KS., Duane Barnes (Julie) of Camdenton, MO.; sisters - Cheryl Coon of Leawood, KS. and Julie Points (Joe) of Lakewood, CO., many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and his life long best friend, Steve Greer of Bonner Springs, KS. Dennis was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Nathan and Velma Crumby an his paternal grandparents, Leon and Claudine Barnes, 4 uncle and two aunts. Dennis loved his country and most of all he loved his family. He enjoyed showing his family and friends a great time. he was a lifelong member of VFW and the Elks Club of El Cajon, CA.
