Donald Edison Cole of Saint Charles, Saint Charles County, MO was born on February 14, 1917 to Alma Cole and Clinton Carroll Cole. He had siblings Clinton William Cole and Ralph Arthur Cole. He married Thelma Marie (Thor) Cole, and they were married until Thelma's death on December 30, 1992. He had children Lawrence Clinton Cole, Denise M (Cole) Bauman, and Craig Kevin Cole. Donald Cole died at age 83 years old on October 9, 2000 at Home in Saint Charles, and was buried on October 12, 2000 at Saint Charles Memorial Gardens 3950 West Clay Street, in Saint Charles.

    Retired Army Air Forces Maj. Donald E. Cole, 83, of St. Charles, died Monday (Oct 9, 2000) at his residence. Mr. Cole served in the Army Air Forces from 1943 to 1946. During World War II, he was a B-26 Bomber Pilot and was shot down over France and was listed as missing in action for approximately three months. After active duty, he went to work for McDonnell Douglas Corp., now Boeing Co., as a government inspector before retiring. He was a member of VFW Post 2866 and American Legion Post 312, both in St Charles. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Baue Funeral Home, 620 Jefferson Street St Charles. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Charles Memorial Gardens, 3950 West Clay Street Among survivors are two sons, Larry Cole and Craig Cole, both of St. Charles; a daughter, Denise Bauman of St. Charles; a brother, Ralph Cole of Independence, Mo.; a special friend, Dorothy Sontheimer of St. Charles; and three grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Baue Funeral Home, 620 Jefferson Street, St Charles, Mo. 63301. -Obituary from St. Louis Post-Dispatch, St. Louis, Missouri, October 11, 2000
