He had siblings Sylvia Myrtle Amelia Shugg, Leslie Rupert Shugg, Albert Wilbur Shugg, Vera Lena Shugg, Cyril Shugg, Clarence Percival Shugg, and Charles Roy Shugg. Edgar Shugg married Margaret Jean Gibbs in 1936, and died at age 81 years old on August 7, 1999 in Dandenong, City of Greater Dandenong County.
