    Edward James Belsar was born to Richard Henry Belsar (1859-1939) and Mary Jane Bickerton (1863-1936), and had siblings Frederick Walter Bickerton (1882-1940), Annie E. (born 1885), Walter George (1889-1955), Violet Rose (1891-1964), Martha Ruby (1894-1975), Mary Ruth (1901-1981), and Jessie Alice Belsar (1806-1991). He had half siblings James Richard Belsar (1881-1941) and Herbert Richard Belsar (1882-1928). Edward married Margaret Bessie Morrow (1889-1967) in 1912 Victoria, and they had a daughter Dorothy Amelia Vagg (1913-2007), and son Walter Belsar (1915-1987).
