Elizabeth Catherine (Richey) Goodwin was born in 1871 to Andrew Richey and Catherine Harper (Boal) Richey, and had siblings Mary Harper (Richey) Cleave, Adam Richey, Charles James Richey, John Richey, Andrew Richey, William Richey, and Albert Richey. Elizabeth Richey married David Wallace Goodwin in 1898, and they were married until Elizabeth's death on July 6, 1923.

    The Argus. Melbourne. 9th July 1923. GOODWIN. - On the 6th July, at her son-in-law's ( J. S. Loder ) residence, Muskvale, Elizabeth Catherine Goodwin. Aged 53 years. At rest. The Ballarat Star. Victoria. 7th July 1923. SUDDEN DEATH. The death occurred at Musk Vale on Thursday of Mrs. Goodwin in a very sudden manner. The deceased lady , who resided with her married daughter, Mrs. Loader, had retired to bed on the previous night in apparently her usual good health, but was found dead early the following morning. Her body was removed to the Daylesford Hospital morgue.
