The garment factory was on the 8th, 9th, and 10th floors of a building in Greenwich Village in Manhattan. It is estimated that 110,071 on the Japanese side were killed - the estimate includes Okinawan citizens who were pressed into service and includes children. With the win of Okinawa, the United States gained an important base of operations in the Pacific.

1975 - In the year of Ethel Mcculley's passing, on September 5th, Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme tried to assassinate President Ford in Sacramento, California. She failed when her gun wouldn't fire. A bystander saw her raise her arm, grabbed it, and the shot went wild.
