Eve (Schryver) Hyzer was born on February 3, 1766 in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York United States to Brechje / Bridget Terpenning Schryver and Johannes Schryver. She was in a relationship with Petrus "Peter" Henry Hyzer beginning February 19, 1797, and had children Mary Polly Hyzer Davis, Abraham T. Hyzer, Elizabeth Hyzer Davis, Catherine Hyzer VanValkenburgh, Peter Henry Hyzer, Isaac Jacob Hyzer, and Ellenor (Hyzer) Samuels. Eve Hyzer died at age 73 years old in 1839 in Andes, Delaware County.

In 1800, she was 34 years old when on August 30th, educated blacksmith Gabriel Prosser organized a slave revolt. He wanted to capture Richmond and kill all whites - excluding Methodists, Quakers, Frenchmen, and the poor - and become king of a new black nation. The revolt failed, he was captured and hung. Slave laws were tightened in Virginia.
