Eve (Schryver) Hyzer was born on February 3, 1766 in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York United States to Brechje / Bridget Terpenning Schryver and Johannes Schryver. She was in a relationship with Petrus "Peter" Henry Hyzer beginning February 19, 1797, and had children Mary Polly Hyzer Davis, Abraham T. Hyzer, Elizabeth Hyzer Davis, Catherine Hyzer VanValkenburgh, Peter Henry Hyzer, Isaac Jacob Hyzer, and Ellenor (Hyzer) Samuels. Eve Hyzer died at age 73 years old in 1839 in Andes, Delaware County.

Boston was following many other places - including England - by banning masked balls, which were considered to contribute to loose morals. After all, with masks, you couldn't tell the class of the person or even their gender! The law was extended in 1849 and repealed in 1963.
