1883 - In the year that Guy Potts was born, on February 28th, in Boston MA, the first vaudeville theater was opened by Benjamin Franklin Keith.

1902 - When he was 19 years old, the Aswan Low Dam (the old Aswan Dam) began construction in Egypt in 1899 and was completed in 1902 - making it the largest masonry dam in the world at the time. The dam was built on the Nile River in order to conserve water and regulate flooding, allowing for population increase along the Nile.

1936 - Guy was 53 years old when on November 2nd, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) debuted the world's first regular high-definition television service. The channel had a short schedule - Monday through Saturday, 3:00p to 4:00p and 9:00p to 10:00p. The first broadcast was "Opening of the BBC Television Service".

1959 - He was 76 years old when on August 8th, Hawaii became the 50th state of the United States. The US flag was changed to show 50 stars.

1964 - In the year of Guy Potts's passing, on February 9th, the Beatles appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show. 73 million people watched - although the Beatles couldn't be heard because of the loud screaming of the female teenage audience.
