Early Life & Education

Howard dropped out of school after the 8th grade. The Principal of the high school told him that if he would have to miss school to do farm chores then he might as well not continue with his education.
Military Service

He had his back broken in a mining accident and could not join the military during WWII.
Professional Career

He was always a farmer, but also worked in the coal mines, drove School bus, worked in the mines mechanical shop, and worked as a bus mechanic. He also had a dump truck and would haul coal and fertilizer to make extra money.
Personal Life & Family

He was a member of the Towlick Valley rod and gun club. Hunting was his only hobby.
