My mother, Joyce McCartney Ritchie was the second of four children born to Floyd Everet Ritchie (1883-1939) and Nancy Dent McCartney (1892-1960). She was born in Lexington, Kentucky. Joyce's siblings were: Her older brother Floyd Dent (1923-1977); Her younger brother Charles McKena (1927-1990) and her younger sister Amelia Gay (1930-2004). He father was always looking for work so they moved frequently when she was young. When she was about 4 yrs old, the family moved from Lexington, Kentucky (where Joyce and her two brothers Floyd and Charles were born) to Mt Adams in Cincinnati, Ohio. They only lived in Mt Adams for 4 months. They then moved to Madisonville for another 3 months. From there they moved to Morning Place and stayed there until June 1932. They subsequently moved to 13th Street, then to Concord St Walnut hills. In September 1934 for we find her and her family settled in at 2304 Symes St (now just a lot next to I-71). While living on Symes street, Joyce's father unexpectedly passed away at the age of 55 of a Heart Attack just 3 days before her 13th birthday. The remaining family finally settled 1963 Elm Ave, Norwood, Ohio. Joyce worked at the Cincinnati Playing Card Company in Norwood. When World War II broke out, she enlisted in the Civil Air Patrol to do her part in the War Effort. After the War, she met and Married Vincent Frederick Arszman on the 22 November 1947 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, in North College Hill, Ohio. Together they raised two children: Nancy Ann (nee Arszman) Stolzenberger (1949 - 2005) and Larry J. Arszman (Still Living). Joyce was a member of the NCH and Groesbeck Seniors; the Wesley-Werner American Legion Post #513 Ladies Auxiliary; and the Galley V.F.W. Post #7340 Ladies Auxiliary.
