Lodina (Bessette) Briant was born on April 24, 1902 to Alfred Bessette and Mathilda Bessette (Née Peloquin), and had siblings Agnes Marie Hopkins (Née Bessette), Elizabeth Mary (Bessette) DuCharme, Ira Isaac Bessette, Edward Bessette, and Delia Peloquin (Née Bessette). She married Peter Briant. She married Joseph Peloquin, and they had children Alfred J Peloquin, Harold Russell Peloquin, Elaine Briant (Née Peloquin), and Bohler-Williams (Née Peloquin). Lodina Briant died at age 95 years old on January 19, 1998.

In 1902, in the year that Lodina Peloquin-Briant (Née Bessette) was born, the first Rose Bowl game was played in Pasadena, California. Called the "Tournament East–West football game" at the time, the Michigan Wolverines (East) played the Stanford Indians (West) - the Wolverines won 49 - 0. (The Stanford captain requested an end to the game with 8 minutes remaining.) The Tournament of Roses Parade began in 1890 and the football game began as a way to boost tourism in the area.
