  • Introduction

I met Masami in Honolulu in the early 1970's and he also came to our home in Ashland, Oregon. My father, Hugh G. Simpson, was Masami's friend. My dad taught a NASA Class on Space Awareness or something like that. He began offering this class at the University in Honolulu and that is where/when he 'somehow' met Masami and his family. I remember attending these way cool parties in the foothills S. of Honolulu at Masami's house and then going to the North Shore (wild back then and no Kelly Slater's to be found) and staying for days at Masami's beach house right on Sunset Beach. My brother, dad, Masami and I would swim in the calm summer bay. Masami was a wonderful and kind and loving man. He was in his mid-50's as was my father. I was probably 10 or 11. I just remember there weren't ANY rules or laws or race S*** and there truly was an Aloha Spirit and that Masami and all these wonderful people shared good food and good times TOGETHER. We came from that small town in Oregon and partied with what I now know were Japanese people. We all loved each other automatically! Masami had a very cool daughter. They were having trouble as she was in her early 20's (I think). Don't know what happened to her. I also remember a Harold Sekiguchi and he taught at Southern Oregon College (University now). Anyway, remember that Masami was a kind lover of life, giver and a REAL HUMAN BEING. I hope someone can add to this... Be a loving human being in YOUR life because every day you aren't, is a day of MAGIC that YOU WASTED-the converse is true. LOVE is our PURPOSE. Eric J. Simpson, Ashland, OR.
