Nobuyoshi “Nobu” Azebu was born in Paauilo Hawaii, and after graduating from Hilo High School enlisted in the United States Army where he served in Military Intelligence until he retired in 1968. He then worked for Lockheed based in Silicon Valley and earned his bachelor's degree from San Jose State University. Nobu was married to Judy Akiko Azebu for 65 years, and had two sons and daughters.

The following was published in the San Jose Mercury News (and also San Mateo County Times) on February 23rd 2014. Nobuyoshi Azebu Jan. 15, 1924 - Feb. 6, 2014 Resident of San Jose Nobu passed away peacefully at his home in San Jose on February 6, 2014. He was born in Paauillo, HI on January 15, 1924. After graduating from Hilo High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Military Intelligence units until he retired in 1968. A career with Lockheed followed, during which he earned his bachelor's degree from San Jose State University. After final retirement in 1988, he enjoyed golfing, traveling, gardening and visiting his family. He belonged to Legends Golf Club and was an active member of VFW and Wesley UMC. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Judy Akiko Azebu; sister Anne Yamamoto of Honolulu, HI; daughter Judith Thomson of Henderson, NV; son Stanley (Jean) of Annapolis, MD; son Kenneth of San Jose; daughter Janice (Diane Dunwoodie) of Lafayette; son-in-law Dudley Leonard of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren Steven and David Thomson, Lauren and Eric Azebu, Megan and Matthew Azebu, Kai and Ren Azebu Dunwoodie, and Brittany, Cortney and Alec Leonard; and ten nieces and nephews and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Audrey Leonard and his daughter-in-law Diane Ogami. Family and friends may attend a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 566 N 5th St, San Jose, CA. A reception will follow. Interment services at the Oak Hill Memorial Park will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nobu's name to the Wesley United Methodist Church, Hospice of the Valley, or the American Cancer Society.ADVERTISEMENT BYLooking for more information?
