    Norman was born in Everton, Liverpool in 1895, the son of cotton porter David Davies and Jane nee Lewis. At the age of 6 he was living with his grandfather William in Hope, Flintshire but returned to live with his brothers Imla, Ullam and Oswell in Liverpool. He got a job as a solicitor’s clerk in Southport and married the solicitor’s daughter Elsie Browne in 1916. Elsie’s father was William Edward Browne. Their marriage was short lived as Norman was killed in October 1917 and his death is recorded in the Tyne Cot Memorial Panel in Belgium. He was a private in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment.
