Add Memories, Stories & Photos about Oscar

Oscar and his identical twin brother Jack (James), were in many ways my older brother. They were raised by my father, their uncle, Lewis B. McIntyre, after his father died in an auto accident in the 1920s. Their mother was Anne McIntyre Biebinger. Jack contracted polio as a child which left him with a distinctive laugh ("yar yar yar") and was I believe not physically qualified for military service. Oscar enlisted in the navy and became a hospital corpsman, and was awarded the Silver Star for valor in Korean at Chosin Reservoir. He retired as a Chief Hospital Corpsman in early 1960s. See for citation. When I joined the Boy Scouts, he gave me the heavy duty down filled slipping bag that he had been issued in Korea.

His wife was Althea; I believe there was an earlier brief marriage but I do not know her name.
