Hello, first, my first name is spelled BOBBI. After my dad, Robert Eugene Gwaltney. My middle name is Jean. He passed in 1996 at 69 yrs. His father Ermal, lived in Scottsburg, Ind. Traits are spaced front teeth and widows peak. Dark hair. Brown or hazel eyes. We ended up living in Madison, Wisc. since I was six. Sixty-one now. Never another Gwaltney in phonebook, so it's unusual to find other Gwaltney-(W is silent) I don't think our families are related?,just thought I'd mention this. Thank you.💕.

Hi Bobbi. It seems like our Gwaltney families have more differences than similarities. We don't have any of the physical traits you mentioned. My dad had reddish hair with a slightly receding hairline. All the other men in the family were bald and fair-skinned, blue eyed. And we pronounce the "w."
I imagine we are related, somewhere in the distant past. The name Gwaltney has been changed and Americanized so much. I believe the original Welsh spelling was Gwalchmai. There is even a town in Wales called Gwalchmaitown. So maybe we are cousins after all.
