Mrs. Little, although an invalid has lived to see her husband complete his jubilee. There is one daughter who is unmarried, and four sons, Lieutenant Maurice Little, who was blinded in the Great War, is well known; Mr. Arnold Little is secretary of the Astronomical Society, Mr. Leslie Little is a vocalist and elocutionist, and Mr. Arthur Little is a Choirmaster at Stanthorpe.

1859 - In the year that Rev. William Little was born, on October 16th, abolitionist John Brown led a raid on Harpers Ferry Armory in Harper's Ferry, Virginia, in an attempt to start a slave rebellion. He wanted to "liberate" the guns in the armory and arm slaves. Brown was captured and hanged on December 2nd.

1876 - William was 17 years old when on June 4th, the Transcontinental Express - an express train - arrived in San Francisco, using the 7 year old transcontinental railroad line. It took 83 hours and 39 minutes from New York City - about 3.5 days - to cross the country.

1895 - At the age of 36 years old, William was alive when on March 15th, in County Tipperary, Ireland, Michael Cleary killed his wife of 8 years, Bridget, and burned her body. His defense was that his "wife" was a changeling that was left in his real wife's place when she was abducted by fairies. He was nonetheless convicted and imprisoned for manslaughter. He spent 15 years in prison.

1902 - At the age of 43 years old, William was alive when the modern air conditioner was invented by Willis H. Carrier. The company that he worked for needed to find a way to control humidity and by solving this problem, Carrier created a system that could be used for cooling the rooms of a house. The Sun Belt thanks him!

1940 - In the year of Rev. William Little's passing, on September 16th, the Selective Training and Service Act of 1940, was enacted - the first peacetime draft in U.S. history. Men between 21 and 36 were required to register with their draft boards. When World War II began, men between 18 and 45 were subject to service and men up to 65 were required to register.
