Robert Foster Matteson of Center Moriches, Suffolk County, NY was born on September 18, 1917 in New York to Virginia Gertrude Trumplette and Wallace George Matteson. He had siblings John Trumplette and Carol (Peachy) Matteson Neckerman. Robert was baptized in New York. He married Julia Fresenius Matteson on April 5, 1945 in Center Moriches, Suffolk County, and had children Kris Trumplette (Matteson) Trumplette, Robbin Stryker, and Wallace Edmund. Robert Matteson died at age 57 years old in July 1975, and was buried in July 1975 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Center Moriches, Suffolk County.

Robert Matteson was my father. The son of Wallace G. Matteson and Virginia Trumplette Matteson, he married Julia Fresenius in 1945 and they had 3 children, raised in Center Moriches, LI, NY where they spent their married life. He was a boat designer and boat fine craftsman on the side, and was known as an expert sailor and teacher of sailing on Great South Bay. In his spare time, he designed the Cottontail one design sailing sloop. His children were Kris/the oldest daughter, Robbin/myself the middle child and Wallace/his son. Before marrying, he graduated from Dartmouth College in 1938 and then enlisted in the Air Force during WW II, when he flew a B-26 bomber out of North Africa and Italy. He was a devoted and loving husband and father, and will always be treasured in our hearts. He passed on in 1975. - submitted by Robbin Matteson McCarter
