He grew up in San Francisco and had a brother Frank Ralph De Losa (1924-2017) as well as a half sister. He was married to Doreen Beverly Francis (1930-2015) and the couple had two children together. The family lived in San Francisco and Robert worked as an undertaker. Robert also served in the US Military, he enlisted on March 1, 1946.
