He had a sister, Mary Elizabeth Bain (1916-2009). He grew up in Portland, Ashley, Arkansas and then moved to Houston, Harris, Texas, USA in 1930. Roy enlisted on November 21, 1940 in Houston Texas (Military serial#: 18010747). He was a Lt. Colonel from the United States Air Force. He served during WWII and The Korean Conflict and he qualified as an ACE pilot during WWII. On Sept 11, 1943 he married Alice Jacquelyn Burns (1923-1994) in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, USA. They had a daughter together.
