My Grandfather, Tom Webb Jones was the best cook ever!!! My Mother Marilyn, his 3rd oldest child with Evelyn Williams Jones, told me of a time that they were living in Cincinnati and their power got turned off. My Grandfather gathered all 10 children around the fireplace and made a fabulous dinner including Taffy candy.
I spent a great deal of time with my Beloved Grandfather. I watched closely and intensely a wonderful man that could not read or write refuse to allow life to pass him by. He had his own business called Jones and Sons where he painted houses for a living.
I can remember watching him build the backyard barbeque pit. He measured things with his feet and hands and it was absolutely perfect.
He loved gardening. His Tomatoes were to die for and his fresh Collard Greens fed the entire neighborhood. After he picked them, he handed out bags of greens to the family and to whomever wants some.
He loved Jesus with all his heart, mind, and soul. He attended Church regularly and did whatever he could despite his inability to read or write. He was truly one of a kind. I love you Granddaddy!
