    Walter Franklin Bildstein was born in Vernon, Wilbarger, Texas, USA on March 22, 1918, to parents Walter Franklin Bildstein (1893-1989) and Beatrice Brown (1896-1969). He grew up in Wilbarger and Wichita Falls, Texas with one sister. In April of 1940, he relocated to Washington DC, and on April 28, 1943, he enlisted in the US Military at Fort Myer, Virginia. He agreed to serve "for the duration of the war or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law." This meant he would serve until the end of World War II on September 2, 1945, and potentially an additional six months if required. On December 16, 1972, Walter Bildstein married Lavina Beth Caldwell (1922-2000) in Los Angeles City, California. Unfortunately, Walter passed away on June 5, 2011, in Oakdale, Stanislaus, California, USA, only eight months after his wife passed away on October 13, 2000.
