Ben and Melissa Netherland Tombstone

This is the tombstone of Benjamin Netherland/Netherlin and his wife Melissa Simons. Benjamin is the son of Stephen Netherland and his wife Elizabeth Massie. Ben was born November 16, 1853 in Rapides Parish. This Parish is now Vernon Parish. He married Melissa Simons/Simmons/Simonds on Sept 20, 1880. Melissa was born April 8, 1850 and died June 15 1884. Melissa's father was Mr. Simmonds that fought in the Rawhide Fight in Leesville, Vernon Parish, Louisiana. She had a sister named Missouri that married John Greer.
Benjamin and Melissa's daughter: Lula Elizabeth Netherlin that married James Oscar Glass.
