Bertha Maupin Ishman

Bertha Maupin Ishmon was born November 30, 1900 in Vicksburg, Warren County, Mississppi to Mrs. Pearlie Barefield (Maupin) Apr 17, 1881 and Bennie H. Maupin May 1874. Reared by her maternal grand parents Rena Crockett (Johnson) Jan 1866 and Thomas H. Barefield (1846) of Vicksburg. She was also reared by her paternal grand parents Mr. Simon Maupin and Mrs. Helen Maupin of Yazoo, and Jackson Hinds Co, Mississippi,. Bertha was the eldest of twelve siblings Bertha, Willie Lee, Tommie Lee, Earnestine, Bennie Sullivan, Corrine, Ellis Hugh, Percy Lee, Albert, Joe Dawson, Abe Lee, and Clemateen. Bertha married Pvt. Charley Elijah Ishman - July 2, 1895, son of Florence Daniel (Ishman) Sept 27, 1876 and Samuel Ishman April 1855 alias 'Chas Ishmon' ' Charlie Ishmon' and gave birth to six children D'ellar Ishmon (Sims), James Henry Ishmon, Luster Ishmon, Samuel Anthony Ishmon, Ernestine Ishmon (Jackson) (Epson), and Bertha Ella Ishmon (Pendleton). Bertha passed away in July 1993 at the age of 92 in San Bernardino, California USA. Bertha's humble migration began in Vicksburg, MS; to Rolling Fork, MS; to Panther Burn, MS; to Greenville, MS where she attended Mt. Ararat M.B. Church on Delesep Street in Greenville, from there Bertha was persuaded by her next to elder brother Tom to move to San Bernardino, after he moved there from Detroit, Mich so there she lived and rest from all her labor
